What is a Ragamuffin Retreat?
Ragamuffin Retreats, founded in 2014 by the creative team behind the movie Ragamuffin, is a ministry from Ragamuffin Nation (a 501 c3 non-profit under the name Color Green Ministries).
The annual gathering is a refreshing and focused retreat on Christ and God’s love, with an emphasis on spiritual formation, discipleship, and experiencing the living and unconditionally loving presence of God.
“God loves you as you are, not as you should be, because none of us are as we should be” – Brennan Manning
We invite everyone, wherever they are, whoever they are, to come to Ragamuffin Retreat as they are. Whether you are a pastor or porn addict, seeker or skeptic, pharisee or phony, come to discover and experience for the first time or all over again that greatest reality above all other realities that, “God more than loves you, he likes you.”
What does the retreat include?
Speaking, teaching, worship, workshops and spiritual exercises that invite the retreat attendee to dive deeper into their faith and experience and gain tools to learn how to live in and response to the love of God.
But perhaps the best part of the retreat experience is the community. Whether you’ve been before or it’s your first time, you will experience a community filled with fellow ragamuffins who are also imperfect who are hungry and thirsty for grace and acceptance.
This year we are changing things up, so while we will have similar elements the leadership team decided it’s time to re-invent the wheel. We wanted to design a more interactive and experiential retreat experience that still involves teaching and worship meetings, but in lieu of more sitting and listening we are offering three tracks/workshops with specific faith journey focuses. One for the Ragamuffin, one for the Disciple, and one for the Mystic.
Don’t let those words confuse or mystify you, they are simply symbolic words to describe where a person wants or needs to spend time growing their faith. Some will do all three, some only one, and some none at all.
While we do believe, teach, and preach the incarnation of God through Jesus Christ, receiving and responding to his love through discipleship and the transformation of your life through accessing and experience God’s love- we want everyone to feel welcome: believer and unbeliever, atheists and agnostics, Muslims and Hindus, Buddhists and …the list is endless. Everyone. You and I are and everyone else, good or bad, rich or poor, famous or infamous are all loved, dearly loved by Divine Compassion revealed by the mystery of Jesus on the cross.
And the majesty and glory of the Colorado Rockies is the perfect place for the experience!
